We will identify the purposes for which the personal information is collected at or before the time that the personal information is gathered from you. Your personal information will not be used for any other purpose without your consent. Please note that when contacting interested parties, it is NFV.net’s policy to provide a means of being removed from our database.
Gathering Personal Information
There are two (2) ways that NFV.net may gather personal information:
Information you give us: At NFV.net’s request or on your own, you may complete a form (electronic or other formats) that includes personal information. Examples of these forms include online registration with NFV.net for any of its online services, a subscription to or participation in online communities, a feedback survey or the submission of a partner application.
Personally identifiable information includes: names, addresses, job titles, phone numbers, fax numbers and email addresses. NFV.net is committed to protecting this information from unauthorized disclosure.
Information that is collected automatically: NFV.net may automatically collect certain personal information when you interact with our web site through a web browser. For example, log files record basic system information. Sample automatic information includes: the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet, login information, passwords, email addresses, and computer and connection information (i.e. browser type and version, operating system and platform, and the full URL clickstream to, through, and from our web site). This information cannot be traced back to a specific individual. We may also use programs that utilize cookies and similar data tracking tools that may be installed on your computer in order to improve the efficiency of your interaction with our website by being able to identify your computer and your usage patterns on our website.
Disclosure of Information
NFV.net does not sell, trade, or license your personal information to others. NFV.net conducts surveys, either on-line or via telephone, fax or mail. These surveys will ask you to voluntarily update your profile in our database and /or provide us with additional demographic information. This information is used internally to enhance our product offering and customer service capabilities, and is not shared with third parties. However, a summary of this information, which indicates user trends as a whole, may be shared with third parties such as strategic partners.
Handling of Information
If you participate in a discussion forum or chat room on the NFV.net website, you should be aware that the information you provide there will be made broadly available to others, and can be read, collected or used by other users of these forums, potentially inside or outside NFV.net, who have access to that discussion forum or chat room. This information could also be used to send you unsolicited messages. Also, please recognize that individual forums and chat rooms may have additional rules and conditions. Each participant’s opinion on a forum or chat room is his or her own and should not be considered as reflecting the opinion of NFV.net. We are not responsible for the Personal Information or any other information you choose to submit in these forums and online communities.
Permission Based Email Marketing
Spam is unsolicited email, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups. In short, spam is “junk email”. NFV.net recognizes an email as “spam” if:
It is sent to a recipient with whom the initiator does not have an existing business relationship and the recipient is unable to easily unsubscribe from the email list.
NFV.net permits ONLY permission-based marketing practices. We practice the use of “opt-in, opt-out” email for our marketing transmissions.
Opt-in email is a web-marketing term for promotional email that recipients have previously requested. Typically web users are invited to sign up for information and updates about NFV.net. Those who have signed up have thus “opted-in”.
Opt-out email is a web marketing term for promotional email that recipients have not previously requested by signing up. For NFV.net’s email distributions, the contact’s email address must have been provided to NFV.net by that individual via the NFV.net web site, a conference, or a trade show. Individuals who have willingly given NFV.net their contact information via these methods are automatically added to email distribution lists that benefit the individual. Although the individual is added to the email distribution list on the concept of opt-out, the individual is ALWAYS given the opportunity to easily unsubscribe – without being hassled.
Our Commitment to Privacy
We take appropriate precautions to ensure the safeguarding of your information, whether it is stored electronically or in paper format. In all cases, information is retained in secure facilities, protected from unauthorized access and kept only as long as is reasonably required.
Upon request by you, NFV.net will inform you of the existence, use and disclosure of your personal information. You may challenge the accuracy and completeness of the information, and request to have it amended as appropriate.
